Declaration
Review (Second) Edition
The Bible is the Word of God. In the Bible it is God, employing the varied vocabularies and diverse literary styles of human writers, who has spoken. Meaning in the Bible is accordingly that which God intended and expressed through those writers and in their words. A Biblical interpreter apprehends this meaning as the Biblical text is illumined by the Holy Spirit and as that interpreter utilizes appropriate principles in the task of Biblical interpretation. These principles are the basis of those set forth in this Declaration.
